Ministry of Finance and Planning is responsible for fiscal policy, public financial management, and national economic planning in the Republic of South Sudan. The Ministry prepares the national budget and oversees revenue mobilisation, expenditure control, and financial reporting.

Its mandate includes the formulation of fiscal policy, coordination of domestic and external financing, and management of public debt. The Ministry works with revenue-collecting institutions and other Government bodies to ensure that public funds are administered in accordance with national legislation and established procedures.

The Ministry also leads medium-term and long-term development planning. It coordinates with line ministries and state authorities to align sector priorities with available resources and national development objectives.

In addition, the Ministry engages with regional and international financial institutions on matters relating to macroeconomic management, budget support, and technical cooperation.

Through these functions, the Ministry provides the institutional framework for fiscal governance and national economic planning in South Sudan.
